When my older son was in pre-school, he was totally obsessed with dinosaurs. I didn't have much experience with kids, and I remember trying to explain my son's preoccupation to a friend. My friend nodded sagely and said, "So he's a dinosaur kid." Exactly. My son told me the basic story of Sabadee, and I made the booklet for his 3rd birthday. The only major part of the story I left out was the part at the end where he told me that the boy flys home "like a California Condor." I left it out because my confidence in drawing a California Condor failed me. The first batch of the booklet was around 25 copies; I mailed them along with the invitations to my son's birthday party, which was a madcap dinosaur event. --EH
